Nason Professor of Theater and Drama / Director of the CWRU/CPH MFA Acting Program
Ron Wilson is the Director of the CWRU/CPH MFA Acting Program. For the program, audiences have seen his directorial work in In Arabia We’d All Be Kings, Cloud 9, Arcadia, The Little Foxes, Hurlyburly, Bus Stop, and The Real Inspector Hound. Selected directing credits outside of Cleveland include: Comedy of Errors, Alabama Shakespeare Festival; The Triumph of Love, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park; and the world premiere of Comp, Boston’s Playwright’s Stage. He has also directed numerous musicals and operas, and dozens of shows for Eldred Theater at Case Western Reserve University.
Playwright credits include: The Last Days of Route 66, The Next Stage Festival of New Plays at Cleveland Play House and the Hannah Theater by the Cleveland Actors’ Theater Company; and The Hollywood Canteen, Missouri Repertory Theatre.
He also serves as Resident Fight Choreographer for Cleveland Play House and has staged and coached hand-to-hand fights, sword fights, waltzes, period style movement, salsa dances, and lizard movement in such productions as A Streetcar Named Desire, I Hate Hamlet, Frank Langella’s Cyrano, Legacy of Light, Game’s Afoot (Or Holmes for the Holidays), Bill W. and Dr. Bob, The Whipping Man, and others. Professor Wilson also performed his non-verbal solo clown-theater piece Here Today… in the First New York Clown Theater Festival and directed two other shows appearing in the festival. He has created and performed nine solo mime shows and directed two companies of the Actors’ Mime Theatre. Professor Wilson is a member of Actors’ Equity Association, Dramatists Guild of America, and Stage Director & Choreographers Society.
