The Department of Theater has an active production schedule, including four mainstage productions and two graduate ensemble productions per academic year, and all performances are open to the public.  Undergraduate production work, such as auditions and crewing, is open to the university community and includes majors and minors, and other interested students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Undergraduate department productions are presented at the Maltz Performing Arts Center, in the 250 seat Roe Green proscenium theatre and the 100 seat Walter and Jean Kalberer black box theatre.  The shows range from classical works to modern dramas and the focus is to create high-quality and challenging performing and backstage opportunities for students and entertaining and thought-provoking works for the audiences. Graduate student productions are produced jointly with Cleveland Play House and performances are also open to the public.  Production work opportunities are for graduate students and invited guest artists only.  The graduate ensemble performs at the Helen Rosenfeld Lewis Bialosky Lab Theatre in Playhouse Square in downtown Cleveland.
