CWRU Hispanic Heritage Month event, co-sponsored by Alianza Latina-Latino Alliance, The Baker Nord Center for the Humanities, The LGBT Center, the Department of Theater, and the Office of Minority Affairs.

On October 4 at 4:30 p.m., Dr. Brian Herrera will be speaking on, “The Presence (and Absence) of Latinos in US Popular Entertainment.” 

The talk will be in Wolstein Auditorium and it will be followed by a book signing and reception.

An Assistant Professor of Theater at Princeton University, Dr. Herrera is an expert on Latinos in entertainment.  His most recent book, Latin Numbers, about representations of Latinos in US popular culture, just won the George Jean Nathan Award for dramatic criticism.

In addition to his academic career, Brian has had a successful solo show about his coming of age as a gay Latino, called _I Was the Voice of Democracy_.  He also writes a blog on pop culture called StinkyLulu.
