What to prepare:
- Students should prepare one 1-2 minute long contemporary monologue.
- Monologues should showcase your true, authentic voice (as opposed to a “character voice” or “stage voice”).
- Monologues with serious dramatic stakes driven by strong personal needs are encouraged.
- If interested in being cast in COMPANY, please also prepare Up to 1 minute cutting of a song with sheet music if you would like accompaniment.
- If you choose to perform a monologue and a song, please keep your audition to under 3 minutes total.
- Headshots are not necessary. Please bring a resume if you have one.
- Non-Majors: If you do not have a memorized monologue, you will have the option of cold reading a speech provided at the audition instead. You may also sing a short song a capella.
- Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to fill out your audition form.
Notes on Casting:
- We encourage students of all racial, gender and sexual identifications to audition for our productions. If you are concerned that your identification would make you ineligible for a given production, please contact Artistic Director, David Vegh, at dmv36@case.edu for clarification.
- Please be aware that academic standing and class attendance records will be considered when casting.

THE ANTELOPE PARTY
- Please note that memorization demands in this play are high, and a strong skill for memorizing scripted text will be vital.
- A note from the playwright about these characters:
- “These are normal, reasonable, level-headed people. Their love of My Little Pony is genuine and straightforward. They take it seriously and so should we. No one in the play is “crazy.” Much of the fun and power of this play is in letting the audience realize how much they relate to these people. It will be funnier if you don’t make fun of them and more powerful if you respect them.”
- JEAN getting tied to a chair by several Bronies and remaining restrained throughout the final scene.
- MAGGIE spitting in SHAWN’s face, then shoving him hard to the ground.
- MAGGIE backing RACHEL into a corner for an intense, threatening beat. (No physical touch here, but intimate proximity.)
COMPANY
- This musical is mostly made of of married couples who represent A range of relationships that Bobby observes.
- Given that they are mostly married couples and friends due to their connection with Bobby, there needs to be a casual and “lived-in” physicality that all actors are comfortable with – hand-holding, hugs, light touching, group hugs, leaning against someone, casual cheek kisses as greetings…etc…The play lives in the late 1960’s early 1970’s and so it has comfort around casual contact.
- If you are not comfortable with this kind of casual contact, this play would not be a good fit for you.
- As always, we would have an intimacy coordinator that would create the scale of contact.
