Specialty: Acting, Voice & Speech

Hayley Jannielli (han-YELL-ee) (she/they) is an actor, director and voice coach specializing in vocal production, acting technique, and dialect work. Originally from San Diego, Hayley earned her M.F.A. in Acting from the University of California, Irvine. She is a Designated Linklater Voice Teacher, certified in Knight-Thompson Speechwork, and a core officer of The Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA).

Hayley was the vocal coach for A Knock on the Roof at New York Theatre Workshop directed by Obie award-winner Oliver Butler. As Resident Voice Consultant for Cleveland Play House, she recently coached the world premiere musical Freak the Mighty (dir. Michael Barakiva), Tartuffe (dir. Jason O’Connell), Epiphany (dir. Don Carrier), and Much Ado About Nothing (dir. Teri McMahon).

Before joining Case’s faculty, Hayley lived in New York City for nine years, performing, teaching, and forging meaningful relationships with theatre-making professionals. There, she was Head of Voice & Speech for CAP21, Molloy University’s esteemed Musical Theatre B.F.A. program, and also taught acting, voice, speech, and improvisation at NYU (The Lee Strasberg Studio), Long Island University (The New Group), the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and The Linklater Center.

As a performer, Hayley was in the National Tour of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, serving as Swing and Dance Captain for two consecutive years. Other stage credits include 300 performances as Lady Macbeth in the long-running Off-Broadway hit Drunk Shakespeare (Brass Jar Productions) and Big Alison in Fun Home (Mill Mountain Theatre).

A former ballet dancer, Hayley trained at the School of American Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and Joffrey Ballet. Her present-day pedagogy is a direct rebellion against the perfectionistic and hierarchical culture she encountered as a young dancer. Her personal journey as an artist has been one of unwinding the physical and psychological rigidity of her dance programming in order to access free and truthful expression onstage. Embodiment, connection, and play are the cornerstones of what Hayley aims to cultivate in the classroom and beyond.

Hayley is a proud member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA and offers private coaching through her company Moveo Voice (www.HayleyJannielli.com)
